MANUFACTURING METHOD
Enhanced performance through 3D printing
We use selective laser sintering to produce 4D Scavengers®, chemically functional porous filters. This unique method enables virtually limitless control over both chemical composition and physical structure.
The small particle size and uniform porous structure promote faster reaction kinetics, resulting in:
- Enhanced selectivity toward target elements
- Increased effective capacity for capturing target ions

IP is protected by 6 patent families.

In standard ion exchange process, the target ions are exchanged with ions of the same charge (e.g. Na⁺ ↔ Ca2+).
CHEMICAL PRINCIPLE
Ion exchange reactions behind recovery
Any high–melting, non-soluble material can provide 4D Scavenger’s chemical functionality. Ion exchange (IX) is typically used for its efficiency, reusability, and scalability.
Our technology overcomes key limitations of conventional IX, including:

- Poor performance in complex or dilute waters
- High chemical use and waste generation
- Limited effective capacity

4D Scavenger® is not just a concept – it’s commercially available solution in active industrial use. It has been tested and piloted across key industrial sectors, proven effective for the extraction of more than 15 ions – including Cu, Li, Co, Ni, Zn, Cd, Pb, As, N, P and REEs, and we have delivered our first fully 4D Scavenger®-based industrial-scale system.
