Weeefiner’s project “Circular economy technology for raw material production from secondary sources” is being implemented between 1 April 2024 and 31 December 2025. The project is part of The Innovation and Skills in Finland 2021–2027 program, which supports sustainable development, the growth of competence, and inclusion.
The project aims to advance water treatment technology and to create a business model that serves both companies and the environment. At the core of the project is the creation of a circular economy market around recovered materials. By utilising processes developed by Weeefiner, the goal is to make recycled materials more efficiently usable, strengthening the position of Weeefiner and its stakeholders in international markets and supporting resource efficiency and sustainable business.
The project emphasises the importance of understanding the market and customer needs. A targeted market study in Northern Europe enables the identification of regions and industries that are pioneers in adopting circular economy solutions. Customer and partner interviews help to map the value chain of dissolved materials and to identify the most relevant customer segments. This work creates a foundation for the practical implementation of the project and ensures that the benefits of circular economy solutions can be communicated clearly both in Finland and internationally.
The project’s objectives connected to sustainable development and business growth are also defined quantitatively. The project has already succeeded in creating new jobs, in line with its goals. In addition, the targets for revenue growth (+150%) and export growth (+50%) are progressing as planned.
Cooperation within the industrial network has played a key role in achieving the objectives. Partners bring their expertise and resources to the project. Combining technological leadership with future-oriented partners enables Weeefiner’s internationalisation. The project has already proven to serve well the shared goals of Weeefiner and its stakeholders.
The development and utilisation of technology provide solutions to today’s challenges and at the same time lay the foundation for tomorrow’s environmentally friendly industry.
